The WIT platform adopted by the Shuyang ITAD Centre is an integrated process for treating municipal solid waste and it employs a number of world-leading waste management technologies, such as Waste Sorting Technology (WST), Innovative Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion (ITAD), Refuse Derive Fuel (RDF) process and plastic pyrolysis process, to covert municipal, agricultural and industrial wastes into various high value-added products: highly-effective organic fertilizers, nutrient-rich soil, recycled plastics, RDF, and plastic-derived fuel oil, etc. These products are used widely in agriculture, forestry and horticulture. The WIT technology changes the way of traditional municipal solid waste treatment, it is in line with the policies of various China cities to save resources, reduce emission, sustain economy development, and resolve increasing municipal solid waste pollution. This technology will be the global trend of municipal solid waste treatment field.

Water Separation Technology (WST)

The Shuyang ITAD Centre adopts WST technology for sorting mixed municipal solid waste. WST process is designed to sort the mixed municipal solid waste by using a number of special mechanical devices. The principal of WST technology is based on the differences of physical characteristics of various waste materials which can be separated in a water stream. The municipal solid waste is automatically sorted and classified by its nature into six major categories:

  1. Dust and sands;
  2. Magnetic metals such as iron cans, screws and bottle caps;
  3. Heavy materials including rubbles, broken glasses and bones;
  4. Combustibles such as paper and textiles;
  5. Plastics such as polythene bags and packaging materials; and
  6. Organic substances including kitchen wastes such as fruit and vegetable peels, small bones and other organic refuse.

The precision rate of sorting waste reaches 90% and the sorted materials will be converted into commercially viable products by other processes. These products include organic fertilizers, renewable building materials, RDF and plastic-derived fuel oil.


ITAD Technology

Organic waste through ITAD process utilizes thermophilic aerobic fermentation to produce effective and highly fertile organic fertilizers in the Shuyang ITAD Centre. ITAD process is a unique biotechnology, completely differ from the traditional production of organic fertilizer. The organic wastes are liquefied into a form of slurry, then transferred into a patent reactor for the fermentation with the specially breed and cultured thermophilic bacteria. The reactor temperature of the slurry will rise to a high thermophilic range of 75-80℃ to speed up the process as well as kill all pathogens, and the reaction is completed within four days. The fermented slurry is then separated into solid and liquid parts, which then are dried, concentrated, extracted, palletized and finally turned into solid and liquid organic fertilizers.
